In an effort to entice more families to its football games, the University of Hawai'i and its sponsors will debut a "family fun zone" on the north concourse at Aloha Stadium this season, the athletic department announced yesterday.
The area, near gate 7, will feature rides, contests and inflatable objects, UH said.
Activities will be free and the area will be available when stadium gates open and will close at kickoff, UH said.
In addition, UH said children will receive free posters and schedule cards and can win tickets to upcoming school events and meet and receive autographs from UH coaches and players.
Meanwhile, UH said it will continue the practice of setting aside seats in sections V and VV (orange level) in the north end zone as "family zones," where alcohol will be prohibited.
"We're excited about creating a 'family fun zone' at the stadium for our keiki and their families," athletic director Herman Frazier said in a release.
UH's home opener is Sept. 16 against Nevada-Las Vegas.
