Pac-Five senior-to-be quarterback Bryson Beirne has given his verbal commitment to play at the University of Arizona beginning in the fall of 2007.
Beirne, who attends Mid-Pacific Institute, said it has always been a dream to play in the Pacific-10 Conference.
"I think it's the premier league in college football," he said.
As a junior, Beirne suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament in the second game of the season that sidelined him the remainder of the year.
"He looks fine," said Pac-Five head coach Kip Botelho. "I didn't think he would be at the point he is now, but he is and that's just because of the type of kid he is."
Beirne, who is 6 feet 3 and 220 pounds, said Arizona's starting quarterback Willie Tuitama was influential in his decision.
"I talked to Willie on Monday. I'm a real big fan of what he does. He's full Samoan so it's a Poly(nesian) pride thing," he said.
Beirne had planned on attending a camp at UCLA later this summer but has canceled. He was also offered scholarships by Oregon State and drew interest from California and Colorado.
