You ready for this? More rain may come

 •  Volunteers dig home from mud's misery

The National Weather Service said a flash flood watch would remain in effect for all islands through late tomorrow night and may be extended for 48 hours beyond that.

Forecaster Tom Birchard said yesterday that the prospect for rain will also remain through the next five days — with a potential for heavy, widespread downpours tonight and in the middle of the week.

Those rains could contribute to even more mudslides such as those that have repeatedly shut down Round Top Drive and threatened homes in Manoa throughout the week.

On Kaua'i, the island hit hardest by rains over the past month, 61 residents whose homes, farms, businesses and other property have been damaged by recent floods and rain were assisted yesterday at a joint Disaster Assistance and Recovery Center set up by the state and Kaua'i Civil Defense agencies at the Kalaheo Community Center.

A total of 51 families or individuals requested similar assistance at the DARC at Kilauea.
