Kyung Kim, playing in the A flight, shot a 1-over-par 73 yesterday to take the first-round lead of the Jennie K. Wilson Invitational at Mid-Pacific Country Club.

Kim leads Kristina Merkle, by one shot and Cyd Okino by two. Merkle and Okino are playing in the championship flight.

The Jennie K. is the first women's major tournament of the Hawai'i golf season. It runs through tomorrow.

Lesly Ann Komoda, Desiree Ting and Bobbi Kokx are tied at 77.

TENNIS BLOCK PARTY

The U.S. Tennis Association Hawai'i Pacific Section will host a free block party tomorrow from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Diamond Head Tennis Center.
