'Yohen,' on going distance in interracial marriage

Jodie Yamada and Jim Andrews star in Kumu Kahua Theatre's "Yohen." The drama takes a look at an interracial couple after 40 years of marriage. In Japanese ceramics, yohen means a misfire that results in an unusual, unexpected piece.

"Yohen," a drama about a long-married interracial couple (he's a black retired GI, she's a former Japanese war bride), begins tomorrow at Kumu Kahua Theatre.

The play, written by Philip Kan Gotanda, is directed by Jason Kanda. It stars Jim Andrews and Jodie Yamada.

Showtimes are 7:30 p.m. Sundays through Tuesdays, through June 6 at the theater at 46 Merchant St. Tickets are $10 general, $5 seniors, students and Kumu Kahua subscribers. 536-4441.
