Isle graphic designer to reflect on career
The godfather of Hawai'i graphic design, Clarence Lee, will speak about his long career and craft at 7 tonight at the University of Hawai'i-Manoa's Yukiyoshi Room in Krauss Hall. Nationally known for his stamps depicting the Chinese lunar new year, Lee's designs are a part of our daily landscape — from the safety-check sticker on your car to the logo for Victoria Ward Centers. Many of O'ahu's top designers got their start at Clarence Lee Design & Associates. The son of a butcher, Lee has been honored as a Living Treasure in Hawai'i and is the recipient of the prestigious Koa Award for lifetime achievement in the arts. For information, call 956-7221.
