Hilo soccer teams sweep Chaminade in PacWest play

Karen Weatherby scored two goals as Hawai'i-Hilo defeated Chaminade, 3-1, last night in a Pacific West Conference women's soccer match at Kea'au High School Football Stadium.
Kelly White also scored for the Vulcans, who improved to 4-4 overall and 2-1 in the PacWest.
Carla Byers scored for the Silverswords (0-5, 0-3).
Weatherby's second goal — in the 56th minute — broke a 1-1 tie.
In the men's match, Ryan Neill scored at the 77:04 mark as Hilo edged Chaminade, 1-0.
Neill's goal came off an assist from Drew Geis, helping the Vulcans improve to 4-3-1 overall and 1-1-1 in the PacWest.
Goalkeeper Darren Smith made six saves for the Silverswords (0-8, 0-3).

BYUH SPLITS WITH GRAND CANYON
Brigham Young-Hawai'i split Pacific West Conference matches with host Grand Canyon yesterday, with the women's team winning 2-0 and the men's team losing 5-1 in Phoenix, Ariz.
Brooke Petersen and Heidi Bushman scored for the Seasider women, who improved to 7-1 overall and 3-0 in the PacWest.
Petersen's goal came in the fourth minute off a corner kick with assists by Kaitlin Johnson and Jill Haar. Bushman scored in the 76th minute on a rebound off a Kahanu Ah Puck header.
The Lady 'Lopes fell to 0-9-1 and 0-2-1.
In the men's match, Lance Ford scored an unassisted goal in the eighth minute to give the Seasiders (4-3, 2-1) an early 1-0 lead.
The Antelopes (4-6, 2-1) tied it a minute later and added four goals in a span of 25 minutes to take a commanding lead.Notre Dame de Namur sweeps through HPU
Notre Dame de Namur swept Hawai'i Pacific in Pacific West Conference matches at San Jose, Calif. last night, with the women winning 2-0 and the men winning 5-1.
Kaia Wakamiya had a goal and an assist, and Morghan King also scored for the Argos (5-6-1, 1-0-1), who took a season-high 32 shots, including 22 on goal.
Goalkeeper Michelle Naeole made 20 saves for the Sea Warriors (2-4, 1-2).
In the men's match, Anthony Putrus had two goals and one assist to lead the Argos (6-4-2, 2-1-0), who recorded a season-high 28 shots, including 10 on goal.
Jeff Dworsky scored in the 80th minute for the Sea Warriors (3-3-1, 1-1-1).

MIYAJIMA 15TH ENTERING FINAL DAY OF QUALIFIER
Baldwin graduate Shayna Miyajima is tied for 15th place going into today's final round of the LPGA Sectional Qualifying School in Venice, Fla.
Miyajima shot a 3-over-par 75 yesterday at Plantation Golf & Country Club's Bobcat Course. At 5-over 221, she is seven shots out of first. Only two golfers are under par.
The top 30 and ties earn berths at the Final Qualifying School, Nov. 29 to Dec. 3 in Daytona, Fla.
Miyajima, 24, was the 1999 girls' state high school champion.
