The Louis Vuitton Hawaii International Film Festival takes over the Sunset on the Beach events at Queen's Surf Beach in Waikiki through Monday, presented by the Hyatt Regency Waikiki Resort & Spa, weather permitting. Call 923-1094 for daily updates. The lineup:

  • Today: "Na Kamalei: Men of Hula" follows kumu hula Robert Cazimero and his Halau Na Kamalei as they prepare for the Merrie Monarch Festival. Directed by Lisette Marie Flanary, the documentary makes its world premiere. The Brothers Cazimero and Na Kamalei perform live. "Na Kamalei" also screens at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Dole Cannery theaters.

  • Tomorrow: The Hawai'i premiere of "Tow-in Surfing," a documentary by Jorge Guimares.

  • Monday: "Check It Out, Yo!" A teen comedy about a small-town Okinawan hip-hop band; Hawai'i-born Konishiki has a cameo appearance. Directed by Rieko Miyamoto, this is the film's international premiere. In Japanese, with English subtitles.

    Sunset on the Beach festivals begin at 4 p.m. each day, screenings start at dusk (about 6:45 p.m.); admission is free.

    Tickets for other films in the festival, primarily at the Dole Cannery theaters on O'ahu, are $10 general, $9 military, students, seniors. More info: hiff.org.
