Washington Place opens its doors to the public tomorrow to mark the 168th birthday of Hawai'i's last monarch, Queen Lili'uokalani. Hours are from 5 to 6:30 p.m.. Admission is free; bring your picture ID.
Attendees can stroll through the mansion and take in the newly renovated glassed lanai, where a Bible owned by the queen will be exhibited. The Bible is courtesy of St. Andrew's Cathedral, where Lili'uokalani was baptized in 1896.
The nearby cathedral also is where an organ recital and choral evensong in commemoration of the queen's birthday will begin at 7:30 p.m. tomorrow. Admission is free.
The queen's actual birthday is today.
