Mutual of Omaha's Drive, Chip & Putt, presented by The Golf Channel, will have three local qualifiers on different islands.

The Kaua'i qualifier will be Sept. 28 at Kiahuna Golf Club. The Big Island qualifier is Sept. 30 at Waikoloa's Kings' Golf Course. On O'ahu, the qualifier will be Oct. 1, at 1 p.m., at Turtle Bay Resort.

Boys and girls ages 7 to 14 are eligible. They can register at the sites or TheGolfChannel.com. Fields are limited to 250 and volunteers are needed to help.

Competition will be in four age groups (7-8, 9-10, 11-12, 13-14). Each division will play for 18 prizes — top five in driving, chipping and putting, and top three combined performance.

Those top three qualify for the Hawai'i Regional the same day. The winner of each division advances to nationals next month in Orlando, Fla.

SENIOR AMATEUR ON TAP

The Hawai'i State Golf Association State Senior Amateur Championship will be Nov. 4 and 5 at Kane'ohe Klipper. It is open to men 55 and older and women 50 and older, by Nov. 5.

Golfers must have a current USGA index not exceeding 25 for men and 31 for women. Cost is $165 per player. Format is 36 holes of stroke play. Entries must be postmarked by Oct. 20. For information, call 589-2909.

NOTES

This weekend's Mayor's Cup at Ala Wai has been canceled because of schedule conflicts.

Bob and Vicki Lerum, from Red Mountain Ranch Country Club in Mesa, Ariz., won the second annual Mauna Lani Couples Invitational on the Big Island.
