Makena Resort put up for sale

The Japan-based owner of Makena Resort has put the 1,800-acre Maui property up for sale.
Seibu Group announced its plan to find a buyer for the South Maui resort, which includes the 310-room Maui Prince Hotel, two 18-hole golf courses and more than 1,000 acres zoned for development, but did not list an asking price.
Real-estate firm Jones Lang LaSalle was retained for the sale effort.
Seibu said it is not selling its other Hawai'i properties, which include the Hawaii Prince Hotel Waikiki, Mauna Kea Beach Hotel and Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel operated by Prince Resorts Hawaii.
$4M CONTRACT FOR TISSUE GENESIS
Honolulu-based Tissue Genesis has been awarded a $4.48 million contract from the Department of Defense to continue research and development on cell recovery and cell delivery systems, the company said yesterday.
It's the company's fourth award from the department; Tissue Genesis has now received $16.4 million in such contracts. The current contract focuses on using regenerative cells collected from a patient's own fat to improve wound, muscle and heart tissue repair among other things.
HILO HEALTHCARE CENTER TO EXPAND
Acadia Healthcare says it plans to expand and renovate the Pu'ukamalu behavioral healthcare adolescent treatment facility in Hilo, which it recently acquired.
Atlanta-based Acadia acquired Pu'ukamalu and Kids Behavioral Health of Montana as part of its purchase of Kids Behavioral Health LLC, based in Reno, Nev. Acadia plans to recruit additional staff members at both facilities, according to a news release from the company.

Awards go to outstanding organizations or individuals that add to the advancement of Hawai'i's agriculture industry. Categories are: Outstanding Agriculture Operation, New Farm Operation (less than three years), Friend of Agriculture and Innovative Value Added Product.
