Entertainer Don Ho — who has been in a hospital since Sept. 13 and had a new pacemaker installed Saturday — said doctors are monitoring his heart.
The world-famous singer also said he is considering further medical treatments, including additional stem-cell therapy, which would require that he again leave the United States for a procedure that has not been approved in this country.
"Main thing now is to get some rest," said Ho, 76. "I'm (feeling) very good."
In November in Thailand, stem cells taken from Ho's blood were injected into his heart to treat heart disease and invigorate the muscle. Ho said the procedure made him feel better.
"I'm improved, like I'm supposed to. I may be up to 40 percent, but I want to be at 100 percent. ... 40 (percent) is not good enough for me," he said.
Ho's longtime associate, Haumea Hebenstreit, said Ho will first work with doctors to seek a more comfortable setting for his pacemaker before deciding on other treatment.
"He's had some (pacemaker) episodes, so we're also looking for the right setting," she said.
Ho has been visited at the hospital by relatives, including daughters Hoku and Kaimana. The location was not disclosed.
He hoped to be released today or tomorrow. There was no indication when he would resume his Sunday and Thursday shows at the Ohana Waikiki Beachcomber hotel.
