It's the sound of introspection and melancholy: the pling-pling plucks of the koto, Japan's signature stringed instrument. Koto masters Kazue Sawai and Hikaru Sawai of Tokyo's Sawai Koto Academy will play contemporary works at 7:30 p.m. tomorrow at the University of Hawai'i-Manoa Orvis Auditorium. Tickets are $12 ($8 for students and seniors). Information: 956-7756.
