Weather postpones UH-Fresno

By Stacy Kaneshiro
Advertiser Staff Writer

Rain washed away baseball games yesterday involving the top three teams in the Western Athletic Conference.

Hawai'i's game at Fresno State, a battle between teams tied for second, and first-place Louisiana Tech's game at Sacramento State, will be made up today at part of doubleheaders.

The Rainbows (25-13 overall, 6-4 WAC) will play the Bulldogs (21-19, 6-4) at 9 a.m., Hawai'i time today. Both games are nine innings. The Rainbows are not scheduled to leave until tomorrow, so the games should not be affected by time constraints, such as weather delays or extra innings.

Joshua Schneider and Ian Harrington are scheduled to pitch today for UH.

Hawai'i coach Mike Trapasso said it was drizzling and that the field was still in playable condition. But the wet field could have had adverse effects.

"You don't want one of your (fielders) slipping on a fly ball with runners at second and third and having (the ball) fall in," Trapasso said. "We don't want a game decided by that, so I concur (with the postponement)."
