Travelers on I-15 into Las Vegas will encounter changes at the casinos they're used to seeing in the border towns of Jean and Primm. In Jean, about 15 miles southwest of town, the Nevada Landing has closed, clearing the way for a master-planned development on the site owned by the MGM Grand. In Primm at the state line, the Herbst family has taken control of Buffalo Bill's, Whiskey Pete's, and Primm Valley. The Herbsts, owners of Terrible's Casino in Las Vegas, say they will build the "largest cowboy sign in Nevada" to promote their new casinos. Also, the 10-year-old, 100-store mall in Primm will be the beneficiary of a $141 million expansion.
HASSELHOFF TAKING OFF: Ex-"Baywatch" star David Hasselhoff is leaving "The Producers" on May 6. Hasselhoff has received rave reviews for his performance in the Tony-winning musical at the Paris. The reason for his departure has been given as a "scheduling conflict." His replacement has not yet been announced.
REOPENING: A month after it closed for renovations, Wynn Las Vegas' Le Rêve theater has reopened. The showroom has been refurbished and re-upholstered, and almost 500 seats have been removed for a more intimate viewing experience. Also more intimate is the show's relationship with your wallet, as prices have been raised by $20 to $40 to a range of $99 to $159.
