Fernando Pacheco, aka The Love Machine, of Star 101.9 (you hear him Monday-Friday, 7 p.m.-midnight) just may start a one-man northern soul revival on O'ahu. On Friday, his alter ego Max Murdoch and the Northern Soul Project perform live for the first time to launch his debut CD. And Missing Dave will make a guest appearance. The Island boy got into the English dance subculture — based on Motown and Stax sounds and slicked up in mod clothes — while on tour with Go Jimmy Go in Europe a couple years ago (he has since left the band). "I like the style, the way people dress, the attitude, the dancing and fast-paced music," says Pacheco. "That's why the name of the album is 'Maximum Stompers.' " The CD? Think Tom Waits and a Casiotone on crack. He's getting creative for his first show — Pacheco will sing to a karaoke track, with mannequins as back up. The songs, such as "Force" and "Pleasure" ("cold pizza and orange juice, that's my pleasure!"), are all original. Check out his music video at http://myspace.com/passoutrecords.
