Feral goats to be hunt target
Advertiser Staff
A four-day hunt to control the feral goat population will take place on Kaua'i later this month, the state Department of Land and Natural Resources said.
The hunt, scheduled for Aug. 23-26, will close Na Pali Coast State Wilderness Park and Kalalau trail, the agency said in a press release.
"We have received public complaints about goats dislodging rocks from above the trail," Laura Thielen, DLNR interim chairwoman, said in the release. "The hunt will help to reduce the numbers of goats in the park."
Signs will be posted at the trail head. Those hiking to Hanakapi'ai Beach or Falls as well as those headed to Nu'alolo Kai and Miloli'i will not be affected.
