A proposed ordinance regarding floodplains and other flood hazard areas will be the topic of two meetings today in Hilo.

The meetings, at 9:30 a.m. and 1 p.m., will be held in the county Office of Housing and Community Development conference room, 1990 Kino'ole Street, Suite 104.

The first presentation will outline the establishment of special flood districts, costs of implementing change and enforcing the county code regarding flood districts.

The second will focus on floodplain management and changes.

The proposed ordinance is expected to be introduced before the Hawai'i County Council on Aug. 15.
