IRS 'survey' an e-mail scam
Advertiser Staff and News Services
The Internal Revenue Service is warning consumers of a new e-mail scam that looks as if it was sent by the IRS and promises recipients they'll get $80 for taking an online customer satisfaction survey.
The e-mail promises recipients they'll receive an $80 credit toward their taxpayer account and includes questions asking the person's name, telephone number and credit-card information.
The IRS said it does not send unsolicited e-mail and never asks taxpayers for PIN numbers, passwords or financial account information.
HAWAI'I HIGH ON TRAVEL SURVEY
Hawai'i is home to three of the top 10 domestic vacation destinations in the Carlson Wagonlit Travel Associates Fall Travel Trends Survey.
Honolulu is third on the list, behind Orlando, Fla., and No. 1 Las Vegas.
Kahului on Maui was fourth and Lihu'e on Kaua'i was eighth.
California and Florida each placed two cities on the list.
The survey, conducted from July 24 through Aug. 17, included information from 390 Carlson Wagonlit Travel Associate agents, owners and managers.
DRFORTRESS HAS FINISHED UPGRADE
DRFortress said it's completed an eight-month project upgrading its 21,300-square-foot data center in Honolulu.
The center features around-the-clock secure operations and continuous power, while more than doubling the size of the operation, the company said.
DRFortress said it had to raise about $5 million in private equity financing from a group of investors.
DRFortress was founded last year and acquired what was the Pihana Pacific data center from Equinix Inc. in December.
