TONIGHT'S MUST-SEE
"13 Going on 30" (2004), 7 p.m., Fox. Entering their teens, kids might prefer to jump directly to being hot-looking grown-ups. That happens here. Jenna (Christa B. Allen) is 13, with a good friend named Matt. Suddenly, she's 30 (Jennifer Garner), successful and seductive. But what happened to Matt? This comedy is one of many light, mainstream movies tonight.
Ten years ago on Aug. 31, Diana died in Paris. Now two channels load up. WE has "Diana Revealed," at 5 and 9 p.m., based on videotapes Diana made after her separation. It follows at 7 and 11 p.m. with "Diana: The Night She Died." Lifetime reruns Martin Bashir's 1995 interview of Diana at 5 p.m. At 6 p.m., it has "The Murder of Princess Diana," a well-made film that perplexes viewers by putting a fictional character (Jennifer Morrison of "House") inside real events.
OF NOTE
"Tak and the Power of Juju" debut, 5 p.m., Nickelodeon. Here's a prime-time peek at a computer-animated show that will air at 7 a.m. Sundays. Tak is a jungle teenager. He has a bond with the magical Jujus, a power usually only held by 177-year-old shamans. Alas, that gets botched often, as we see tonight. The result is modestly entertaining.
"Speed" (1994, FX) or "Dave" (1993, AMC), both 5 p.m. Here are two more thoroughly entertaining films. FX has Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock on a bus that can't stop. AMC has Kevin Kline as a look-alike who is asked to impersonate an incapacitated president.
"Snakes on a Plane" (2006), 5 p.m., HBO. You might skip this one, if you dislike the notion of snakes on airplanes.
"The Sound of Music" (1965), 7 p.m., ABC Family. A light movie night starts with this musical, which won five Academy Awards, including best picture. Soaring music and sprawling scenery makes up for a so-so story.
"Ghost Whisperer," 7 p.m., CBS. In the first half of a two-parter, Melinda has problems. Gabriel won't leave, and a ghost has ominous predictions.
"Jericho," 8 p.m., CBS. The men return from their work project in New Bern, but Eric isn't among them. His brother, Jake, realizes this is trouble.
"Numb3rs," 9 p.m., CBS. A killer on Death Row suddenly wants to say where the bodies are buried. Don is suspicious.
"Law & Order: Special Victims Unit," 9 p.m., NBC. A photo in an anonymous envelope leads to a child-pornography case that is tough on Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay).
