No. 20 BYUH men open up season with 107-77 victory

Brigham Young-Hawai'i, ranked No. 20 nationally in Division II, opened its season with a 107-77 victory over Western Oregon last night in the Wildcat Classic in Ellensburg, Wash.
Lucas Alves led BYUH with 26 points and pulled down eight rebounds. Jermaine Odjegba added 21 points for the Seasiders, who will play tournament host Central Washington University today.
BYUH hit 20 of 38 shots from the field in the first half and forced 14 turnovers en route to a 54-33 halftime lead.
Sam Kelly led Western Oregon (2-2) with 24 points and Brad Krichevsky added 23.
CENTRAL WASHINGTON TOPS HPU WOMEN
Central Washington University sophomore Shaina Afoa had her second double-double of the season, scoring 18 points and pulling down 12 rebounds, as the Wildcats (5-0) beat Hawai'i Pacific, 76-60, last night in the Dave Cox Classic at Seattle University.
Nikki Jordan led the Sea Warriors (0-2) with 17 points and Ashley Jenkins added 15.
HPU made 23 of 35 free throws in a physical game that had 53 combined fouls.
Hawai'i Pacific will face Seattle University today.
UH-HILO WOMEN DEFEATED IN COLORADO
Mary Rehfeld hit 5 of 9 3-pointers and scored 15 points as Colorado State Pueblo beat Hawai'i-Hilo, 72-49, last night in Pueblo, Colo.
Chrystal Hodson and Halley Moseley each scored 12 points for UH-Hilo (0-1).
The ThunderWolves improved to 5-0.
ALASKA ANCHORAGE TOPS CHAMINADE WOMEN
Ruby Williams and Dasha Basova scored 15 points each to lead fifth-ranked Alaska Anchorage to a 98-31 victory over Chaminade in the second game of the Glacier Classic at the Wells Fargo Sports Complex last night in Anchorage.
The Seawolves (5-0), who raced out to a 20-0 lead, shot a season-high 52.6 percent from the field and had 32 assists. Alaska Anchorage's 56-16 halftime lead was its biggest ever against a Division II opponent.
The Silverswords (0-1) were led by 10 points from guard Marian Murphy.
Chaminade plays the University of Alaska Fairbanks today.
