DECK THE HALLS: "Les Mardi Gras Follies," the Jack Cione-directed endeavor listed as Hawai'i Theatre Follies on the theater's Web site, begins rehearsals shortly. The production has tapped community troupers such as Cathy Foy-Mahi, John Valentine, Yvette Nii, Pedro Haro-Arvivu and Brandy Lee (yes, the exotic dancer from yesteryear who launched a comeback earlier this year).

"You could see fatherly pride every time Sean stepped up to the mike," said Brenda Chung, who was in the audience that particular night. ...
HOW JAKE SHIMABUKURO SPENT THANKSGIVING: Working; that is, doing a recording at the Avex studios in Hawai'i Kai, with engineer Gaylord Holomalia. The 'ukulele whiz is completing a new CD and collaborated with Japanese bandoneon artist Ryota Komatsu. But yes, Shimabukuro made sure he was home for turkey and the fixings. Also at Avex in recent weeks: Amy Hanaiali'i Gilliom, Natalie Kamauu, Manoa DNA and Sonny Ching. ...
Michael W. Perry, the KSSK personality, wife Vickie and clan watched Lisa Matsumoto's "A Christmas Gift of Aloha" at Centerstage (a tradition for the Perrys as well as Ala Moana). The mele will bow at Mother Marianne's feast day Jan. 23, with Roland Cazimero and Blaine Kia lending their talent, too, in chant, ipu and ki ho'alu. ...
