"The most interesting thing about a poem is that it doesn't exist until it has its music. Every poem has a music. And until it has that, it's not a poem. It's just information or data. ... " says poet C.K. Williams. He gives his first Island reading — a free one — 7 p.m. tonight at Punahou School's Wo International Center, in the Luke Lecture Hall.
The "music" of Williams has won numerous awards, including the Ruth Lilly Poetry Prize (2005), the National Book Award (2003, for "The Singing"), a Pulitzer Prize (1997, "The Vigil") and the National Book Critics Circle Award (1987, "Flesh and Blood"). Information: http://punahou.edu/media.
