Agency given grant for substance abuse services

Maui Youth & Family Services Inc. has been awarded a $333,000 contract by the state Department of Health to deliver outpatient substance abuse treatment services over the next two years.
The agency proposed developing more effective methods for treating adolescents with substance abuse problems that includes working with the family.
The new program will provide intensive outpatient treatment for youth and families; education groups for youths referred to MYFS by the court; and substance abuse assessments. Treatment may occur from one hour per week to up to 11 hours per week, depending on the needs of each youth.
Maui Youth & Family Services is a comprehensive social services agency that has been in operation for 29 years, offering residential and outpatient treatment for substance abuse and behavioral issues.
