At Maui festival, catch a film — or two or three

The Maui Film Festival's FirstLight series of features, some not yet released in theaters in Hawai'i, continues this weekend at Castle Theater, Maui Arts & Cultural Center.

Today's films:

  • 2 p.m.: "Talk to Me" (R), starring Don Cheadle, above, as the 1960s soul disc jockey Ralph Waldo "Petey" Greene Jr.

  • 5 p.m. "La Vie en Rose" (PG-13), biopic about the French chanteuse Edith Piaf.

  • 7:30 p.m. "In the Shadow of the Moon" (PG), astronauts tell tales of the moon.

    Tomorrow's films:

  • 2 p.m."The Hoax" (R), Richard Gere in the tale of the bogus biography of the recluse Howard Hughes.

  • 5 p.m. "Into the Wild" (R), based on the true story about a young man who sets out in the wilds of Alaska.

  • 7:30 p.m. "I'm Not There" (R), several actors, including Cate Blanchett, take on the personalities of Bob Dylan at different times of his life.

    Admission is $8 for 2 p.m. screenings; $12 for the others.
