Church choirs to raise money

Advertiser Staff

Several Hawai'i church choirs come together for a fundraising performance Dec. 29 at the Community Church of Honolulu, 2345 Nu'uanu Ave., to help raise money to buy a permanent home for the Logos Korean Church.

The church now holds services in a commercial space on Ala Moana between Happiness Lounge and Mike's Discount Furniture. The congregation has been struggling for 13 years to raise enough money to find a church of its own. The congregation needs another $70,000 by Jan. 19 to make a down payment on the now-vacant Church of the Nazarene site in Kaimuki.

A barbecue dinner begins at 5:30 p.m. (Takeout is also available.) Cost is $20. Preceding that will be performances by organ soloist Young Pak; the Hawai'i Ecumenical Chorale under the direction of Aaron David Mahi; the Harris United Methodist Church Chancel Choir under director Diane Matsuura; De Colores men's choir of Christ United Methodist Church and the Ringing Angels Teen Handbell Choir from the Logos Korean Church.
