Cheynne Lishman and Chase Moses each scored 15 points and Tyler Caswell added 11 points last night to lead Kalaheo past Campbell, 69-56, in the O'ahu Interscholastic Association semifinals.

The Mustangs, ranked No. 4 in The Advertiser's statewide Top 10 poll of coaches and media, improved to 12-2 and will play No. 5-ranked and defending champ Kaimuki in tomorrow's title game.

Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. at McKinley's Student Council Gym.

Last night at McKinley, OIA East champion Kalaheo was clinging to a 22-21 lead early in the second period before finishing the half with a 14-2 run for a 36-23 lead at the break.

"We had the momentum right there," said Mustangs senior forward Cliffton Pires, who scored all eight of his points in that pivotal second quarter and finished with six rebounds. "We gave it back a little (in the second half), but we're still learning to protect a lead."

The eighth-ranked Sabers (10-4) got as close as 51-47 after Mike Makinano's free throw with 5:02 remaining, but Kalaheo responded with a 6-0 run on free throws by Cody vonAppen and Moses and a layup by Caswell.

"We seized control a couple times, but Campbell battled back," Mustangs coach Chico Furtado said. "But we showed some poise, we were able to make plays and hit free throws down the stretch."

Lishman scored all 15 of his points in the first half. Caswell also had six rebounds.

Jayden DeLizo scored a game-high 25 points to lead the Sabers. Makinano and Patrick Ward each contributed 12 points for Campbell.
