So you don't know cantilever from cantaloupe? No worries. An international trio of trendsetting architects, in Honolulu this month to select outstanding examples of contemporary architecture from the Asia-Pacific region, will share their grand ideas on design in a series of free public lectures.
Itsuko Hasegawa, Robert Ivy and Kerry Hill are judging the University of Hawai'i School of Architecture's fifth Kenneth F. Brown Awards. Each will give a lecture.
Hasegawa, an innovator who fuses Japanese materials with modern technology, will speak on "Architecture as a Thinking Environment" at noon today in Room 215 of the architecture building.
Ivy is editor in chief of Architectural Record, the world's largest professional architectural publication. He'll discuss "Where in the World is Architecture?" at 5:30 p.m. today in the School of Architecture Auditorium.
Hill, an Australian considered one of the most prominent architects in Asia, will discuss a variety of projects between 1996 and 2006 at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday in the School of Architecture Auditorium.
