  • MICHAEL K. HIRAI has been named president and chief investment officer of BISHOP STREET CAPITAL MANAGEMENT, the investment management subsidiary of First Hawaiian Bank. Before joining the bank, the 23-year veteran of managing both fixed income and equities, was chairman of CIC/HCM Asset Management Inc., where he served as director of fixed income and chief fixed income strategist. Hirai is also a member of the state Council of Revenues.

  • Accuity LLP — a full-service firm providing assurance, and tax and management consulting service to public and private clients — has promoted three employees:

    KEITH ASATO, a five year Accuity employee, has been named assurance manager, working with financial institutions, government and retail industries.

    ANDREW MATSUMOTO, also with the firm five years, has been promoted to assurance manager, overseeing audit services to major clients in the hospital, higher education and real estate spheres.

    KRISTI NAKANO was promoted to assurance senior associate. Her clients include hospitality, government employee benefit plans and the insurance industry.

    Two new sales and marketing hirings have been announced:

  • NATALIE CAPITANO has been named marketing manager of Maui Land & Pineapple Co. Inc., subsidiaries of which are Maui Pineapple Co. Ltd. and Kapalua Land Co. Ltd., operator of Kapalua Resort, the 23,000-acre master-planned community in West Maui. Most recently, Capitano was sales and marketing manager of Hard Rock Cafe International on Maui, and, before that, Denver, Colo.

  • Twenty-two-year industry veteran, MAYDENE SIMMONS, has been named director of sales and marketing for the Ilikai Hotel. Prior to joining the hotel, she was with Starwood Hotels & Resorts for 17 years, last as regional director of international markets. Before that, she had worked with the Hawai'i Visitors and Convention Bureau and at Sea Life Park.

  • Hawaiian Airlines has announced the appointment of KEN REWICK as vice president of flight operations. He is responsible for overseeing all administrative duties and activities for Hawaiian's pilots, including crew scheduling, pilot flight training and standards and domicile arrangements — as well as the carrier's System Operations Control Center. Rewick joined Hawaiian as a pilot in 1978 and has had 18 years of management experience in a variety of pilot training and administrative duties. He most recently served as director of flight operations for Hawaiian. He succeeds Robert Glasgow, who recently retired.

  • Also announced was the departure of RUSSELL CHEW as chief operating officer for the Air Traffic Organization at the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to assume the position of executive vice president of operations for Hawaiian. Chew also is a qualified pilot, having flown for American Airlines.

  • P.F. Chang's Hawaii (PFC Hawaii, LLC) has promoted Oscar Guadian from line cook to sous chef of P.F. Chang's China Bistro at Hokua, his second position as sous chef with the eatery chain. A He joined P.F. Chang's, Milwaukee, Wis., in 2002 as a prep cook, then becoming sous chef there. P.F. Chang's at Hokua, located on Ala Moana Boulevard in the Ward Center area, offers Mandarin Chinese wok cuisine in a bistro atmosphere.

  • Dr. Brian F. Issell, former director of the clinical trials unit at the Cancer Research Center of Hawai'i at the University of Hawai'i, has joined Scripps Health of San Diego, Calif., as vice president of clinical research. At the Cancer Research Center, in addition to directing the center's clinical trials, Issell also served as a researcher and professor of medicine at the University of Hawai'i. Prior to joining U.H., an interest in the development of novel therapeutics to treat cancer led him to a 10-year career in the biopharmaceutical industry, initially with Bristol Myers. Scripps, a $1.7 billion San Diego-based health care system, treats 500,000 patients annually across five hospital campuses, home health care services, and an ambulatory care network of clinics, physicians' offices and outpatient centers throughout the San Diego region.

  • Bruce Musrasrik, who joined Outrigger/Ohana Hotels and Resorts in 1996 as a guest service representative, has been named hotel manager for the Ohana Islander Waikiki hotel. The hotel, at the Kalakaua Avenue/Lewers Street makai/'ewa corner, is attached to the new Waikiki Beach Walk retail and entertainment complex. In his new position, Musrasrik will oversee all day-to-day hotel operations and departments, including maintenance, housekeeping and front desk. Most recently, he was guest service manager at the OHANA Islander Waikiki.
