ISLAND LIFE SHORTS
Islands fit us to a tee
Advertiser Staff and News Services
Chris Festa is a travel hound. He's been to 47 of the 50 U.S. states and has put his geographical obsession on T-shirts. His Chicago-based company, Festa, has a line of shirts that cover every state of the union. Just out are two Hawai'i designs. We like the one that says "hawaii ... america, but without all the hassles" above a map indicating the Mainland's regional problems (too hot, too cold, too much NASCAR). But we already know our Islands are juuuuust right. You can order shirts at www.festastuff.com.

GIRLS WILL BE BOYS
Ladies, have you ever drawn a mustache on yourself with an eyebrow pencil ... and liked it? On Thursday you can explore your masculine tendencies in what may be Honolulu's first drag king pageant. Put on that suit (or wife beater), walk the catwalk or lip synch and woo the audience with your he-man charms and you just might be Mr. Glam King 2007. On the evening's bill is Cherry Blossom Burlesque, the Hell Caminos, above, Willow Chang, acoustic sets by Angie and Johnny Helm, and a rare reunion appearance by local '80s pop stars Hat Makes the Man. Hosted by Ladyfest Hawaii, the event is a benefit for the Life Foundation, a nonprofit organization that has been supporting people living with AIDS in Hawai'i. The O Lounge, doors open at 7 p.m.; $15 at the door, $10 presale. Tickets available at Butigroove and the Life Foundation.
