  • Former Honolulu journalist MARK OSMUN has been named public relations director for Shriners Hospitals for Children-Honolulu. Osmun, a veteran of journalism and public relations in Hawai'i and California, is a former sports writer for The Honolulu Advertiser, and former public affairs director for American Red Cross, Sonoma County, Calif. He is author of the book "The Honolulu Marathon."

  • RICHARD HUNTER has been appointed special strategic adviser to new Hilo Hattie chief executive officer John Reed. He comes to the company with more than 40 years of senior retail experience, including 18 years in top executive roles with DFS (Duty Free Shopping). Hunter was president of DFS Hawaii, 1982 to 1988, and executive vice president for DFS Group in Hong Kong, Australia, Guam Saipan and their corporate offices in San Francisco. Hilo Hattie operates seven stores in Hawai'i, as well as outlets in Orange and San Diego, Calif.; Las Vegas, Nev., and Orlando, Fla. Under construction is the new 29,000 square-foot mega Waikiki flagship store adjacent to The Cheesecake Factory in Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center, due to open next summer.

  • Dennis Rose, director of golf at Mauna Lani Resort on the Big Island, was sworn in for a three-year term on The PGA of America's board of directors at the group's 90th annual meeting. Rose will serve as District 11 director overseeing the Aloha, Northern California and Southern California PGA sections. Rose, 58, joined Mauna Lani in 2002 as director of golf and general manager of the resort's oceanside Francis H. I'i Brown North and South courses. Rose established DJR Golf Consulting on the Big Island in June 2000, relocating to Oahu's North Shore months later to become director of golf at the Turtle Bay Resort. He has been a member of the PGA's Aloha Section board of directors since 1981.

  • ResortQuest Hawaii has named Kathi Buettner Web strategist and optimization manager, responsible for, among other duties, overseeing the company's Web site. The seven-year travel industry and online marketing professional began her career at ResortQuest Hawaii as a graduate intern in 2004, before being hired as full-time Web coordinator. The Honolulu-based firm, formerly Aston Hotels & Resorts, manages 5,000 condominium resort and hotel rooms in 28 properties on O'ahu, Maui, Kaua'i and the Big Island.

  • GINA O.W. ANONUEVO has joined the Internal Audit Division of First Hawaiian Bank as senior vice president and general auditor. The 12-year audit veteran was previously an examiner with the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. in San Francisco, Calif. Also, Jen-L W. Lyman, Deborah W.L.M. Ng-Furuhashi and Chuen Ying Lee have been promoted to assistant vice presidents in the bank's Personal Trust Division.

  • LILLIAN GOO RODOLFICH has been promoted to controller for A&B Properties Inc., the real estate subsidiary of Alexander & Baldwin Inc. effective today. Before joining the company in 1996, as A&B-Hawaii Inc. assistant controller, she was controller at Island Heritage; accounting system administrator at the Kamehameha Schools, and senior auditor at Ernst and Young International. With some 90,000 acres in Hawai'i, A&B is the state's fourth largest private landowner.

  • RANDALL ISAKI has joined First Insurance Co. of Hawai'i as information technology solutions director. The 20-year veteran of IT management previously was with technology consulting firm CGI-AMS, where he oversaw several multimillion dollar systems for the city and state. First Insurance is the oldest and largest property and casualty insurer domiciled (the state in which an insurance company receives a license to operate) in Hawai'i, with assets of more than $400 million.

  • The law firm of Bays Deaver Lung Rose Baba has hired Denise W. Wong as an associate. The firm specializes in construction, real estate and commercial litigation, insurance defense, business and real estate transactions, employment, and trust and estate litigation. Wong previously was a Hawai'i Intermediate Court of Appeals clerk under Associate Judge Alexa D.M. Fujise. Wong also worked under the First Circuit Court Judge Frances Q.F. Wong.
