Hawaiian Electric Industries Charitable Foundation, on behalf of Maui Electric Co., awarded a $5,000 grant to the Friends of Fleming Arboretum to help build a storage facility and restroom at the arboretum at Pu'u Mahoe in 'Ulupalakua.

The Atherton Family Foundation, the Fred Baldwin Memorial Foundation, the Cooke Foundation, Bank of Hawaii and the A&B Foundation also are helping with the permitting and construction costs of the facilities.

The D.T. Fleming Arboretum is Maui's oldest and largest native dryland arboretum and is a source of rare native plants and seeds used in projects statewide.
