TONIGHT'S MUST-SEE

"State of Mind" debut, 6 and 9 p.m., Lifetime. Phoebe is a family psychiatrist on a too-busy day. It only gets worse when she arrives too early (or maybe too late) at her own therapist's office and catches her husband cheating. That's the start of a quick, slick hour that juggles serious drama and bright fun. The producers of this series also do "The Closer" and "Nip/Tuck," but "State of Mind" is much livelier. Created by Amy Bloom — a psychotherapist, novelist and Yale professor — it has a freshness you don't expect. Lili Taylor is ideal as the smart-but-frazzled lead.

"ESPY Awards," 3, 6:30, 10 p.m., ESPN. Jimmy Kimmel and LeBron James host the show, which mixes glitz (in the Kodak Theatre), fun and sports awards.

"Side Order of Life" debut, 5 and 8 p.m., Lifetime. Jenny (Marisa Coughlan) is a perfect-looking photographer, ready to marry a perfect-looking business guy (Jason Priestley). Naturally, this will fall apart. "Side Order" seems contrived, but Coughlan is so instantly likable that we follow her through it all.

"Secrets of Egypt's Lost Queen," 6 p.m., Discovery. A millennium before Cleopatra, historians say, Egypt had six previous female pharaohs. Hatshepsut ruled for 15 years, even adopting the fake beard worn by male pharaohs. Then her name and pictures were obliterated. This documentary — slow but interesting — follows the successful search for her 3,500-year-old mummy.

"American Body Shop," 7:30 and 9:30 p.m., Comedy Central. For much of this half hour, this appears to be both funny and deeply demented. A bishop has a troubled past and a body to hide. Then things work out, with a series of terrific twists. Stick with it.

"Mystery: Miss Marple: Toward Zero," 8 p.m., PBS. Geraldine McEwan has been a delight in her version of the Agatha Christie heroine — slender, observant and all-knowing. Now she's back with new episodes; in the first someone tells her about an unpunished killer — then is promptly killed.

"Desperate Housewives," 8 p.m., ABC. In the midst of her fling with Ian, this rerun has Susan learning that Mike has come out of his coma. Edie has him and Susan has a dilemma.

"Law & Order: Special Victims Unit," 9 p.m., NBC. Here's a rerun of the season finale, which again has Chris (Ludacris) Bridges as Detective Tutuola's wayward nephew.
