Robbery suspect turns himself in

A Kalihi man suspected of robbing Bank of Hawaii's Kalihi branch on Friday turned himself in to police yesterday.
The man, 20, went to the main police station about 1:30 p.m.
Honolulu CrimeStoppers released a bulletin Monday with a security camera photo clearly showing the robber's face.
First-degree robbery charges were pending.
TWO METH SUSPECTS TO BE ARRAIGNED
Two women accused of accepting a special-delivery package from Las Vegas containing 455 grams of crystal methamphetamine will be arraigned July 30 at Circuit Court.
A District Court judge yesterday ruled there was probable cause for the arrests of Denzie H. Thomas, 44, and Charlene Leiola Yim, 60, following a preliminary hearing and sent the case to Circuit Court for trial. The women were each being held in lieu of $30,000 bail.
According to a court document, police intercepted a package weighing 4 pounds July 10 at the Federal Express station and set up a control delivery. Police raided a residence at Hui 'Alala Street in 'Ahuimanu when the package, rigged with a tracking device, signaled police that it was opened.
Thomas and Yim are charged with first-degree meth trafficking.
MISSING KAUA'I TEENAGER SOUGHT
LIHU'E, Kaua'i — Police have asked for the public's help in locating a missing teenager, 14-year-old Leiala Cummings.
Cummings, 5-foot-4 and 100 pounds with brown eyes and black hair, reportedly failed to return home Saturday. She was last seen in a white tank top and black wraparound skirt.

GARDEN ISLE FIRE BURNS 30 ACRES
A brushfire on Kaua'i's west side burned about 30 acres of Robinson family property before being declared under control at 4:45 p.m. yesterday.
Kaua'i County spokeswoman Mary Daubert said the fire companies from Kalaheo, Koloa and Waimea, along with a Rescue 3 unit and helicopter, responded to the 3:17 p.m. alarm.
They were assisted by Robinson employees using water tenders to refill fire trucks, Daubert said.
The firefight occurred about three miles mauka of the Makaweli Post Office.
There were no injuries and the fire did not threaten structures.
AWARD HONORS HPD OFFICER
Honolulu police officer Louise Akina will be honored today for preventing a person from jumping from an apartment building in January.
Chief Boisse Correa will award Akina with a Warrior Bronze Medal of Merit in ceremonies at the main station at 9:30 a.m. Akina is assigned to the Kalihi patrol district.
Correa will also present a Certificate of Merit to a civilian for assisting officers in capturing a robbery suspect.
