“The Everlasting Flameless Candle” is safe to use everywhere because it runs on batteries. There is real scented wax, but it does not melt; there’s an LED instead of a wick. It’s part of the Remodel It Right Expo July 2007.

Maybe that weekend house project is a bit more than you can manage. Or maybe this just happens to be the time you will make good on that promise to replace the kitchen cabinets, tile the patio or repair the roof.

Well, this just happens to be your weekend: The third annual Remodel It Right Expo, with the theme of "Fall In Love Again ... With Your Home," continues at the Hawai'i Convention Center.

The expo, presented by the Building Industry Association of Hawaii, features 150 booths of exhibitors — contractors, suppliers, experts and others — and ongoing roundtable discussions about all aspects of remodeling.

A couple of new products will make their Hawai'i debut, too, at 1st Look Exteriors:

  • Outdoor furniture created from recycled plastics is made by Loll Designs.

  • The Everlasting Flameless Candle is made of scented wax, but runs on three AAA batteries and has a light-emitting diode instead of a wick. It's safer than real candles and doesn't melt.

Newish: A wall-mounted porthole aquarium, designed in Australia, at the Tropical Serenity booths.

Also to be explored at the expo: doors, windows, fences and decks, furniture and accessories, landscaping and other outdoor products, appliances, security systems and solar energy products.

The Honolulu Advertiser is a sponsor of the exposition.
