Health-plan provider expands its services

The Hawaii Management Alliance Association said it's offering a new health education and intervention program and introducing new prescription-drug benefits.
The health-plan provider said a program developed with Express Scripts includes educational materials that help encourage adherence to prescribed drug therapy, while providing qualified members with diabetes a free preferred blood glucose monitoring system.
A new eye-health management program program by Vision Service Plan focuses on treatment and management of eye and overall health conditions.
HMAA said a new prescription drug benefit and incentives program includes a "zero dollar" copay between June 1 and Nov. 30 as a way to transition members from certain brand-name drugs to generic drugs.
It also is offering members the ability to get 90-day supplies of maintenance medication at select local pharmacies.
The health-plan provider has more than 3,200 small-business customers in the state.
