Combining outstanding size, speed and agility, Kamehameha’s Brandon Hardin was one the state’s premier athletes this past school year.
Brandon was an Advertiser All-State first-team defensive back in football and helped the Warriors to a top-5 ranking at the end of the season. In February, he accepted a full scholarship offer from Oregon State University’s Top 25 football program.
At the track and field state championships last month, Brandon won the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.16 seconds, finished second in the triple jump by two inches with a leap of 42 feet, 11 inches, took fourth in the 200-meter dash, was fifth in the long jump and was part of Kamehameha’s runner-up 4 X 100 and fifth-place 4 X 400 relay teams.
He did all this despite fighting shin splint injuries throughout the season.
In the classroom, Brandon carried a 3.4 grade-point average and will enter Oregon State as a pre-business major.
