Leaving many opponents and fans to often wonder, “How did he do that?” Kaimukď’s Keone Reyes was one of Hawai‘i’s most productive and entertaining basketball players the past two seasons.

At 6 feet and 255 pounds, Keone was surprisingly quick and agile, and was just as likely to swish a 3-pointer as to score on a powerful inside move to the basket.

He was a two-time Advertiser All-State first-team selection in basketball and won State Player of the Year honors last season after helping the Bulldogs win their second straight OIA championship and their first state title since 1993.

In football, Keone was team captain and was named OIA White Conference Defensive Player of the Year after playing several positions on the line and helping Kaimukď to a Division II state tournament berth.

While overcoming his own personal tragedy and struggles, Keone still found time to give back to other underprivileged youth by serving as a basketball coach and junior leader at the Boys and Girls Club of Honolulu, where he had learned to play sports and stay out of trouble as a child.

He will attend San Jose City College in the fall, where he plans to play football with the hopes of transferring to the University of Hawai‘i to become a member of the Warriors.
