Hale'iwa photographer Brian Bielmann was among 10 winners in a field of 7,200 entrants from 90 countries in the Red Bull Illume first international action and adventure photography competition.

Other winners were from South Africa, Czech Republic, Arizona, Switzerland, Poland, France, Florida and Australia. Fred Mortagne of France won the Illume Image of the Year for his stylized skateboarding image.

Bielmann has been shooting photos for almost 30 years, with his pictures appearing in every major surf magazine in the world.

The Illume exhibition was in Huntington Beach, Calif., this month and will travel to Portland, Ore., in August.
