Man dies after fall from building

A 23-year-old man died yesterday at The Queen's Medical Center after falling onto H-1 Freeway from a nearby building.
The man landed on a moving Toyota sport utility vehicle about 10:19 a.m., police said. He was taken to the hospital in critical condition. Police closed the freeway's Kina'u Street off-ramp near Ward Avenue from 10:15 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. No one else was hurt.
The medical examiner's office identified the man as Matthew Smith. Police classified the case as an unattended death.
KAHANA BAY BODY A HOMICIDE VICTIM
Police are seeking information in the beating death of a woman whose body was found about 2 p.m. Sunday near the fishpond at Kahana Bay.
The victim is Caucasian, and an autopsy determined she died of blunt force trauma to the head. The medical examiner's office is not releasing her name until her identity is confirmed.
"She had massive head injuries and is unrecognizable," Crime-Stoppers coordinator Kim Buffett said.
The woman has lived in the Ka'a'awa-Punalu'u area for about 10 years and is a bicyclist. Her bike was found on Kamehameha Highway near the fishpond.
