A "substantial amount" of crystal methamphetamine was recovered last week in a warrant search of a car parked on campus belonging to a Kaimuki High School custodian, police said.
Anna Budinger, 50, was the target of an investigation by the East Honolulu Crime Reduction Unit that resulted in her arrest at 7:30 a.m. Friday. Police described Budinger's drug dealing as "very active."
District commander Maj. Greg Leftcourt praised the unit's work for taking down two alleged drug dealers who presented a danger to the community because of their connection to schools.
The investigation found Budinger was allegedly selling drugs from her car and house, police said. It is unknown if she sold drugs to students, but Budinger reportedly did deals during school hours on campus to outsiders, police said.
While Budinger was being arrested, a second CRU team with Specialized Services Division officers did a warrant search of her George Street residence in Kapahulu and allegedly found a small amount of marijuana, police said. Police said they also recovered evidence connecting Budinger's boyfriend, Scott P. Ishihara, 46, to drug dealing.
Ishihara, a custodian at Nu'uanu Elementary, was arrested at 8:45 a.m. Friday at his school. Police said Ishihara was in possession of drug paraphernalia at the time of his arrest.
The pair will be arraigned March 29 at Circuit Court for multiple drug-related charges.
