Hawaiian Telcom has reached agreement on a one-year contract extension with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.
Scot Long, business manager for IBEW local 1357, said unionized workers at Hawaiian Telcom maintained their benefits and will get a wage increase. However, neither side disclosed the size of the increase or other details of the tentative agreement.
The agreement is subject to ratification by union members and approval by Hawaiian Telcom's board of directors.
The current pact expires Sept. 1. The extension will run until Aug. 31, 2008.
The agreement covers roughly two-thirds of the company's approximately 1,700 employees, the company said in a news release.
