The University of Hawai'i's Board of Regents has approved the sale of 300 acres of land to the Hunt Building Corp. for $100 million, which will help pay for the new UH-West O'ahu campus.
The money will go toward financing the infrastructure and construction of the campus on the 'Ewa Plains. The Legislature this month approved $35 million in capital improvement funds for the same purpose.
The campus is slated to open to students in Fall 2009. When completed, it is expected to serve 7,500 students along with 1,000 faculty and staff.
UH-West O'ahu becomes a four-year program next year.
