  • JON K. MITOMI, accounting manager for the Honolulu Fire Department Federal Credit Union for three years, has been named the organization's new president/chief executive officer.

    ResortQuest Hawai'i, formerly Aston Hotels & Resorts, has announced several hirings:

  • Dana Washofsky was named director of marketing for the company's 26 properties on O'ahu, Maui, Kaua'i, and the Big Island. She is former marketing communications manager for Marriott International Hawai'i, and before that, account supervisor at Yesawich, Pepperdine, Brown and Russell. She is also former vice president and media director for Laird Christianson Advertising.

  • Cara Okawa has returned to the company as vice president of sales and revenue development, effective June 8. The visitor industry veteran was, most recently, vice president of sales and revenue management for Aqua Hotels. Prior to that she was assistant vice president for sales for Castle Resorts & Hotels.

  • Wendi Vasconcellos has been named ResortQuest Hawai'i group sales manager, working with established consumer and travel agent group accounts. She previously was leisure sales manager for Castle Resorts and Hotels. She is also a former regional sales manager for Outrigger Hotels and Resorts.

  • CHERISH MANUEL, assistant property manager at Sofos Realty Corp. for more than a year, has been promoted to property manager. She will be responsible for client and tenant relations, coordinating maintenance and improvements, lease compliance and renewals, and preparing financial reports. Established in 1989, Sofos is a full-service commercial real estate firm, commercial brokerage and property management firm, representing owners, investors and tenants.

  • Frieda S. Takaki, president and chief executive officer of CHART Rehabilitation of Hawai'i Inc., has been elected chair of The ESOP Association, the national trade group for companies with employee stock ownership plans (ESOPs). Takaki is president of the organization's local chapter, has served on the Executive Committee's State and Regional Chapter Council, and as vice chair of the association for the past two years. Takaki has been with the multidisciplinary CHART outpatient physical rehabilitation clinic since 1983, and CEO since 1989.

    The law firm of Cades Schutte LLP has announced three new partners:

  • Christopher T. Harrison is a partner in the Finance and Real Estate Department, combining both "cross-border" and domestic Hawai'i real estate matters — including sales and acquisitions, commercial leasing, construction and financing.

  • Ernest H. Nomura is a partner in the Litigation Department, focusing on labor and employment law, employment litigation and employee benefits litigation.

  • Keith Y. Yamada, also a partner in the Litigation Department, will focus on civil litigation, construction litigation, commercial law, and suretyship.

  • Dana Hauanio, most recently manager and senior loan officer for the state Office of Hawaiian Affairs, has joined the Honolulu Minority Business Enterprise Center (MBEC) as director. She is past assistant vice president/business banking underwriter for California's Bay View Capital Corp. and small business banking representative for Bank of Hawaii. She sits on the board of Hale Ku'ai, a Native Hawaiian craftsmanship and entrepreneurism cooperative; serves on the Council of Hawaiian Representatives for the Native Hawaiian Hospitality Association, and is secretary of the Native Hawaiian Chamber of Commerce.

  • Kevin Aucello has been named vice president of development for the Hawai'i region, a newly created position at Marriott International Inc. Based in Honolulu, he will oversee strategic development of the 11 Marriott hotels and resorts statewide, including those represented by the JW Marriott, Marriott, Renaissance and Marriott Vacation Club International brandings. Aucello formerly was a principal in the Honolulu office of CB Richard Ellis and a director of CBRE's international hotel practice. He has more than 25 years of advising companies on equity, debt and leasehold real estate interests in Hawai'i, Guam and Micronesia.

  • JERRY VEA has been hired for the position of merchant for City Mill Co. Ltd. As such, he will be responsible for all the buying, merchandising and promotions for the hardware and tools departments of the home improvement center chain. Vea's 35-year career has included retailing positions from sales, operations, buying and management, including merchandising manager for CSK Auto Inc. in Arizona (Checker Auto Parts in Hawai'i); merchant for California's Orchard Supply Hardware chain, and store manager for Woolworth stores, California, and later, Craftmart.
