Gingerbread festival taking reservations

Reservations now are being taken for entries and space in the 8th Annual Gingerbread Family Festivals slated next month on O'ahu, Kaua'i, Maui and the Big Island.
The event, founded by chef Alan Wong and Easter Seals Hawai'i, this year adds Kama'aina Kids to the partnership. It allows individuals or groups of up to four or 10 to participate in a gingerbread house-making competition, using pre-cut gingerbread sheets to create a house, complete with icing, candy decorations and work table space.
Reservations are being taken through Nov. 19, with several options available:
O'ahu's corporate competition festival will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Dec. 9 at the Blaisdell Exhibition Hall. Cost is $450 ($300 tax-deductible) and includes the building materials and a worktable and a pau hana reception, with awards for best overall, participants' prize, best newcomer and best team spirit. Family entrants, with workspace for up to four people, will be from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. or 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. Dec. 9. Cost is $39 ($20 tax-deductible) and includes entertainment and a photo with Santa. Call Easter Seals Hawai'i at 948-4000 or Kama'aina Kids at 262-4538.
For those wanting to purchase a to-go gingerbread house kit, the cost is $29 ($15 tax-deductible). Kits will be available Dec. 5-12 at Kama'aina Kids and from Easter Seals Hawai'i from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 9. For reservations, call Kama'aina Kids at 226-4538 or Easter Seals at 948-4000.

Kaua'i — Dec. 8, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. or from noon to 1:30 p.m. at Kukui Grove Shopping Center. Space for four; $39 ($25 tax-deductible). Call 808-245-7141. Easter Seals is coordinating.
