All Bruce McGonigal wants is for his macaw to be returned safe and sound.

No questions asked, said the 51-year-old Kalihi resident.

Marley, a 12-year-old macaw, has been missing since Nov. 8 from his home on Naio Street near Houghtailing and School streets. McGonigal keeps his birds in coops on his carport roof.

He's reported the missing bird to the police. He's called the Hawaiian Humane Society. He's posted fliers.

"I just want her back," McGonigal said. "Nothing and no news from anyone."

The parrot has been part of McGonigal's flock for a decade. She's been photographed with Lt. Gov. James "Duke" Aiona and entertainers Don Ho, Henry Kapono, Frank DeLima and Guy Cruz.

McGonigal usually takes Marley with him and about 25 other parrots to the Crouching Lion area on the Windward side for tourists to take pictures.

"Marley was a very pleasant bird," McGonigal said. "She's very docile. I trust that bird face-to-face with an infant."

Marley is yellow and turquoise and hails from Brazil. The bird has an ID tag on its left leg that says "Birdguy." It's microchipped.

McGonigal reported the bird missing to the Hawaiian Humane Society. If the macaw is turned in, the society will contact the owner, said humane society spokeswoman Kawehi Yim.

Marley is part of McGonigal's family of about 100 birds, and part of his business, in which the birds pose for pictures with tourists and perform at kids' birthday parties.
