LANA'I CITY
New cultural, heritage center welcomes visitors

The newly formed Lana'i Culture & Heritage Center will hold an open house from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday in Room 126 of the Old Dole Administration Building.

Kau Inoa registration will be held at the same time by the Office of Hawaiian Affairs.

The nonprofit heritage center was organized through a partnership among Castle & Cooke Resorts LLC, the Lana'i Archaeological Committee, Hui Malama Pono o Lana'i and members of the community. The center's collection includes Hawaiian artifacts, plantation-era documents and family memorabilia.

The board of directors consists of Pamela Mae Pili Alconcel, Martha Haia Evans and Gary Yokoyama. Kepa Maly is executive director.
