BYUH doubles team plays for national crown today

Brigham Young-Hawai'i's Maggie Deng and Elwen Li defeated the top-seeded team of Julia Chergova and Anna Redecsi of Clayton State, 6-2, 6-1, yesterday in a doubles semifinals of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association National Tournament at Mobile, Ala.
Earlier in the day, Deng and Li ousted Ashley Neumann and Julia Goncalves of Northwood, 6-3, 6-2, in the quarterfinals.
The Seasider duo will play second seeds Irene Squillaci and Aina Rafolomanantsiatosika of Abilene Christian for the NCAA II championship today.
In singles play yesterday, Li routed Kristina Vucenov of Northwest Missouri State, 6-0, 6-1, in a quarterfinal match. Li meets top-seeded Suzana Cavalcante of West Florida in today's semifinal round.
The ITA National Tournament brings together eight regional winners for the tournament in all of the small college divisions and culminates with a Small College Super Bowl matching the champions from the NCAA II, NCAA III, NAIA, and NJCAA against each other.

HPU MEN FALL, 2-0
Gibson Bardley and Keith Ferris scored goals as Western Washington defeated Hawai'i Pacific, 2-0, yesterday in a non-conference men's game at the home field of Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Ariz.
The Sea Warriors (4-4) play their first Pacific West Conference road game today against Grand Canyon.
Yesterday, HPU goalie Matt Terry withstood a first-half assault of eight shots. He made two saves, but Western Washington broke through in the 35th minute when Zach Bauking served a corner kick to Bardley, who headed the ball past Terry.
Each team had three chances on goal in the second half, but only Ferris capitalized. Matt Pele stole the ball and slipped it behind the backline to Ferris, who slotted the ball past Terry for the breakaway goal in the 66th minute.
Jim Terry posted two shots on goal for HPU.
SAILING
UH IN CHAMPIONSHIPS
The University of Hawai'i women and coed sailing teams will compete in the Pacific Coast Sailing Conference Singlehanded Championships starting today at San Francisco.
Stanford is the host.
The Rainbow women placed second and the coed team finished fourth at the Stoney Burke Intersectional two weeks ago in the San Francisco Bay Area.
