Shigezawa rallies for victory in Turtle Bay Amateur golf

Punahou sophomore Bradley Shigezawa shot a 4-under-par 68 yesterday to rally for a two-shot victory over Iolani's Lorens Chan (68) at the Turtle Bay Amateur at Turtle Bay's Fazio course.
Shigezawa finished at 5-under 139. He began the day two shots behind Alex Ching, who finished fourth. Brandan Kop (70) finished third at 142.
State Senior Amateur: Gary Haynie shot a 2-over 74 yesterday to win the men's title at Kane'ohe Klipper Golf Course with a 5-over 149. Doug Stacy (77) was second at 151. Marcie Rudich won the women's title with an 81 yesterday for a 15-over 159 total.

MARTINEZ WINS IN SPAIN
California's Bobby Martinez won the Billabong Pro Mundaka men's contest yesterday at Mundaka, Spain.
Martinez defeated Australia's Taj Burrow in the final, 16.44-16.16.
The contest was the eighth of 10 stops on the 2007 World Championship Tour. Entering next month's event at Brazil, only three surfers are still in contention for the 2007 world title.
No. 1 Mick Fanning of Australia, defending champion and current No. 2 Kelly Slater of Florida, and No. 3 Burrow are the only surfers with a shot at the championship.
Kaua'i's Andy Irons, ranked No. 5, and Pancho Sullivan of Sunset Beach, No. 9, were eliminated in the second round of the Mundaka contest.
Women's tour: Australia's Stephanie Gilmore won the NAB Beachley Classic women's surfing contest Saturday at Manly Beach, Sydney, Australia. Gilmore defeated Brazil's Silvana Lima in the final, 15.43-15.33, and received $20,000. Gilmore, who is in her first year on the World Championship Tour for women, is ranked No. 1 in the world. Hawai'i surfers Megan Abubo, Melanie Bartels and Leilani Gryde were eliminated in the third round.
