  • PACKAGING AND PROMOTING WELLNESS TRAVEL, an educational conference sponsored by the Hawai'i Island Wellness Travel Association, takes place 2-8 p.m. Nov. 3 at the Fairmont Orchid on the Big Island. Alexander Anolik, the country's leading travel law expert, will discuss the business fundamentals of wellness travel. Other guest speakers will focus on spa travel, travel agent training programs and how to work with travel writers. A new wellness travel online site will be unveiled. The public is welcome.   • The nation's top research scientists, policymakers and university administrators will gather at the Waikoloa Beach Marriott Nov. 6-9 for the National EPSCoR Conference. This year's conference theme is "EPSCoR Leadership for Scientific Innovation, Collaboration and Enculturation." EPSCoR seeks to improve research competitiveness by expanding the research framework in key scientific and engineering disciplines. Keynote speaker will be Dr. Kathie Olsen, deputy director of the National Science Foundation. A poster reception will feature Dr. Barbara Bruno and Dr. Paul Kemp of the Center for Microbial Oceanography.
